tumi is the kind of bride i could have over and over again and not because she is ridiculously beyond gorgeous. because she knew the simple truth that her wedding was not about her. every wedding is about moms, dads, sisters, friends, brothers, grandmas and the long-suffering roommates who were witnesses to your relationship. the more a bride tries to focus all the attention onto herself, the more stressed out she’ll get as reality gets in the way and her day is not the princess fairy-tale story she has envisioned.
tumi laughed through the day with the grace and ease of a woman out to enjoy her favourite people. oh, and get married while she’s at it.
while she put thought and care into every little detail, most of those details revolved around other people. her generous and carefully chosen bridal party gifts, the schedule that allowed her time with her guests, the location to suit a far-and-wide-spread family, and down to the beautifully personal, thoughtful hand-written note that served as a place card for her guests. even i got one. and even my assistant got a tear-jerkingly beautiful note.
tumi and moe wanted to honour their family and friends with a day designed to celebrate not only their love for each other, but their shared love for this new blend of families. i adore working with people who are not putting on a production. tumi was out to impress no one, and in doing so she blew us all away.
