this whole wedding was a total labour of love by the family and friends of elzabe and shane. the two lovebirds are not exactly type a so the planning and execution of their wedding fell onto the supremely talented, together and loving members of our church who recognised right away the need to intervene.
i have known elzabe for ages, and seen first-hand how lost in thought she can get and how her whole life sort of coasts along until the speed bumps of admin arise to derail her. she misses appointments and forgets where she parked the car. but i don’t see it as a fault. she sees life through a dreamy haze and half-imagines it rather than simply accepting what it is. type a people are realists, and have a job to get done. they scan they environment for what needs to be perfected, for what’s in the wrong place or yet to be delegated. in their mind is a list to be checked off. they see life for how it should be and are focused on making a million small adjustments until it is ‘fixed’. it’s a great trait for planning a wedding! but both elzabe and shane are frustratingly far from type a. they both see the world for how it could be, rather than how it should be. they aren’t planning and fixing and spotting problems so much as overlooking and forgiving the world it’s imperfections and fantasising about the impossible. it’s all very annoying to the average person until the impossible becomes possible.
i have no doubt that elzabe and shane will accomplish the impossible together. they will definitely have more than their fair share of admin-related drama. people will always roll their eyes at ‘those two’ as they bumble through life getting perfectly avoidable fines, tickets and cancellation charges. they will pay more for their last minute plans. they will forget important dates and lose important documents. but they will blow us all away because those two scatterbrained wildcards will be quietly imagining the unimaginable. because the world is not a list waiting to be checked off and the only thing that can truly change it is people who stupidly fantasise beyond reality.
